A Stochastic Control Approach to Portfolio Problems with Stochastic Interest Rates
We consider investment problems where an investor can invest in a savings account, stocks and bonds and tries to maximize her utility from terminal wealth. In contrast to the classical Merton problem we assume a stochastic interest rate. To solve the corresponding control problems it is necessary to prove a veri cation theorem without the usual Lipschitz assumptions.
متن کاملConvergence of discrete time option pricing models under stochastic interest rates
We analyze the joint convergence of sequences of discounted stock prices and Radon-Nicodym derivatives of the minimal martingale measure when interest rates are stochastic. Therefrom we deduce the convergence of option values in either complete or incomplete markets. We illustrate the general result by two main examples: a discrete time i.i.d. approximation of a Merton type pricing model for op...
متن کاملA model for pricing real estate derivatives with stochastic interest rates
The real estate derivatives market allows participants to manage risk and return from exposure to property, without buying or selling directly the underlying asset. Such market is growing very fast hence the need to rely on simple yet effective pricing models is very great. In order to take into account the real estate market sensitivity to the interest rate term structure in this paper is pres...
متن کاملInvestment hysteresis under stochastic interest rates
Most decision making research in real options focuses on revenue uncertainty assuming discount rates remain constant. However for many decisions, revenue or cost streams are relatively static and investment is driven by interest rate uncertainty, for example the decision to invest in durable machinery and equipment. Using interest rate models from Cox et al. (1985b), we generalize the work of I...
متن کاملAnalysis of Joint Life Insurance with Stochastic Interest Rates
A general portfolio of joint life insurance contracts is studied in a stochastic interest rate environment with independent and dependent mortality models. Two types of joint insurance products, namely joint first-to-die and joint last-to-die, are considered in this project. Two methods are used to derive the first two moments of the prospective loss random variable. The first one is based on t...
